The Family Man Web Series

The Family Man Web Series is an Indian action drama web series. The web television series was released on Amazon Prime Video in September 2019. The Family Man stars Priyamani and Manoj Bajpayee in pivotal roles.

The Family Man Season 1 was Manoj Bajpayee’s first Web Series. The Family Man Season 1 Web Series has become very popular among the Indian Hindi Web Series lover’s audiences. The Family Man Season 1 as per the rating became one of the most popular Web Series Hindi movies list in India.

The series unveils the story of a middle-class man who is secretly working as an intelligence officer for the T.A.S.C. The T.A.S.C is a fictitious branch of the National Investigation Agency. The first season of The Family Man series contains 10 episodes in total. The series has been reportedly renewed for a second season. The shooting of the second season of The Family Man began in November 2019.

The Family Man Web Series is an action, drama thriller Hindi Web Series in India which was made by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. Every Family Man web series lover can watch all the 10 episodes on Amazon Prime Video. The story delineates the fear based oppressor exercises in India. Fans are frantically sitting tight for ‘The Family Man’ season 2 web series to air on Amazon Prime Video.

The series is set in Mumbai, and Raj and DK always provide a different view of the city with their hyper-local references. In the first five episodes, The Family Man is committed to showing us Srikant Tiwary (Manoj Bajpayee) as he juggles being  a “family man” and also an underpaid government agent (he works for a special unit called TASC that tries to prevent terrorist activity). I expected this juggling to be a lot more comical and endearing. Imagine a government spy who loves cooking or playing poker with his kids? Imagine a spy who doesn’t work on Sunday a la Akshay Kumar? I would have loved for the series to explore this more without obviously wanting us to sympathise with Srikant, while vilifying his wife, Suchitra (Priyamani). In the first few episodes, she is reduced to a nagging wife stereotype.

The series is committed to showing Manoj Bajpayee as some sort of a “bechara” who can’t catch a break. To his credit, Manoj Bajpayee’s performance is impressive as always, but his comic timing came across as weak.  In comparison, the larger plot of the show is geopolitical involving Kashmir, ISIS terrorists and various bombings in Mumbai that centre around hyper-nationalism. The last 5 episodes follow TASC members as they try to thwart terrorist activities in and around India. A certain “Operation Zulfikar” takes Srikant to Kashmir, where he meets Gul Panag, an old friend and his Commanding Officer. From this point in the series completely ignores the “family angle” only peppering the show with small anecdotes for a change in pace. (The Family Man Web Series)

Conceptually, The Family Man is uneven and doesn’t commit to the world it builds for itself. Instead, it would have been nice to see the series focus on the Srikant as a character, giving him quirks in view of his epithet.  This would make the show shorter and more engaging.

It also tells an affecting story of missed chances, of suppressed desires, of eventual victories laced with inevitable failures – of feeling guilty and the helplessness that comes with it. The Family Man takes in a lot – the show is essentially several movies of varying genres rolled in one – and yet, thanks to masterful tonal variations, never overwhelms or tires you.

The Family Man Review
  • The Family Man Review….Being Manoj Bajpayee fans, we could not stop ourselves from watching this hair raising engaging thriller which is truly based on the Day to Day events in our Country. Plot is extremely gripping socially, politically, evolving and keeps audience so sharp and “What Next” Mode. Almost every possible sensitive element is covered, connected and handled extremely non-Controversially, non- Monotonous-ly, reasonably and perfectly well from different angles of reality. Every one did their jobs immensely well especially Obviously Manoj, Neeraj Madhav, Sharib Hashmi and special mention to Priya Mani as a Simple Worried complaining Wife handling two reactive kids and her job. Cute comedy and its timing is absolutely perfect kept the series more engaging. Non-Monotonous or heavy to carry attitude of the story. Raj -Dk after Shor in the City and Cult Go-Goa-Gone impressed me with the way of designing the characters and story writing. Editing made the story telling A Perfect Cut and coming to Cinematography, in my opinion this is the very first time Kashmir looked flat yet Beautiful without much editing hacks, actors were amazing for their roles – Casting is definitely not disappointing. Season one ends with one of the terrorists killing the other for deciding to abort Plan B of Mission Zulfiqar yet it fails would be the last scene and now let’s wait for Season 2.

I fell in love with the way all the events are connected and the way directors crafted it as a big beautiful interesting intense patriotic drama. The stellar cast includes Manoj Bajpayee, famous actress Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Sharad Khelkar, Neeraj Madhav, Gul Panag, Sundeep Kishan, Darshan Kumaar, Sunny Hinduja, Shreya Dhanwantary and others.

The Family man dwells in the world of Srikant Tiwari played by (Manoj Bajpayee) an intelligence officer, a father, a husband who juggles between his father duties and serving the nation.(The Family Man Review)

Talking about the acting proficiency of the cast, needless to say, Manoj Bajpayee is beyond words, he does justice to the role of a husband, father, employee and a friend. His character Srikant is definitely relatable. Indeed a perfect choice for the role. He carries the show The Family Man on his shoulder. (The Family Man Web Series)

On the other hand, Sharib Hashmi as a friend complements Manoj well. Darshan Kumar who has carved a niche for himself in films is also a perfect choice for the role of an antagonist as he is the reason for all the havoc created in the city. Gul Panag as the Srinagar NIA officer Saloni Bhatt is a tough, intelligent and powerful lady in the show. Versatile actor Sharad Kelkar as Arvind lights up the usual high intense dramatic moments in the show. To be honest the show doesn’t disappoint even a bit with twists and turns and complexities of each character keeps us hooked throughout. The hard-hitting action sequences show blood, bombs, and blasts that are heart-wrenching. The scenes are so impactful that you will be astonished. With every episode, the viewers are hooked on to the screens, all thanks to the intriguing background score by Ketan Sodha. Well, we can’t miss the applause worthy dialogues, one-liners and jokes, in the most serious and toxic situations of Srikant’s life, the punches by him does make you laugh a two for a minute. (The Family Man Review)

  • The Family man is a completely different approach to what we are used to see on our streaming platforms nowadays. I really appreciate the scripting they put into it, it’s great over all. They have got every aspect covered up, in terms of family, job, friends, work ethics and relationships. Even looking at the entire series itself you can say that yes they have got everything
  • Superior performance of Manoj Bajpayee and full suspension and drama in touch to mind.
  • Acting wise Manoj Bajpayee has done an excellent job, I always wonder why any big production house doesn’t use him as an actor because I guess they hardly have a good script that can justify his acting. The use of bad words and the way he delivers them is so artistic, I  enjoyed it, The locations used in the series are very good, though some sections of the sitcom does make you feel that few things weren’t taken care in a proper manner like the Pakistani way of speaking, but those are nitpicking, which i guess they will improve in the next instalment. Let it be sacred games season 2 , or any other such series. Manoj Bajpayee outdone himself in his new series. Cast is good. Good acting by everyone.

The Family Man Cast

  • Manoj Bajpayee as Srikant Tiwari, an analyst in TASC
  • Priyamani as Suchitra Iyer Tiwari, Srikant’s wife
  • Sharib Hashmi as JK Talpade, Srikant’s colleague at TASC
  • Neeraj Madhav as Moosa Rahman {Al Qatil}
  • Kishore as Imraan Pasha, Force One leader
  • Gul Panag as Saloni, Shrikant’s Commanding Officer

Conclusion:

The concept of spies was a very fantastical concept. But with time we have realised that spies do exist and their work is really ugly. There are many things. It has elements of James Bond, Ethan Hunt, Jason Bourne, Jack Ryan, and Barry. But despite having all those influences, there’s a certain Indian-ness to it now. There’s no official explanation for what ‘Indian-ness’ is. For me, it is this mix of awkwardness, resilience, love, frustration, patriotism, conservatism, sexism, idealism and a need to rebel. And the writers do an excellent job of giving time to every single one of those facets without over-stuffing the screenplay. (The Family Man Web Series)
